‘Suis-Je Cool?’ is the long-awaited new single from Scottish alternative 4-piece, The Van T’s

The West of Scotland outfit formed in 2013 and have enjoyed widespread praise from press and tastemakers including Bella Union honcho Simon Raymonde. This acclaim spread out with the UK gaining the quartet radio plays internationally including the US.

The band comprises of twin sisters Chloe Van Thompson (vocals, guitar) and Hannah Van Thompson (vocals guitar) alongside Joanne Forbes (bass) and Shaun Hood (drums).

Their songs are as invigorating when it comes to a new breed of alternative sonance as you could hope for. Rapturous surf-pop with rock swagger balanced by sugar-pop harmonies has resonated with a legion of new fans. With influences ranging from First Aid Kit to Wolf Alice, this quartet are the new smell of teen spirit.

Their latest single, ‘Suis-Je Cool?’ has been brought to life by producer Margo Broom (Fat White Family Band, Goat Girl, Calva Louise). It’s full of fizzing, sprawling guitar licks and sumptuous vocal harmonies.

“The track itself is pretty fast and furious. It’s our first track released in over a year so I guess we wanted it to be a reminder that The VanT’s are back. “Suis-je cool?” In French means, “Am I cool?” – it’s a song dedicated to those who feel they struggle to fit in, but should embrace everything about themselves. This song has a lot of passion and rage at the same time. Through this song, we wanted to put across an essence of lust and relentlessness. Essentially, it’simportant to do what makes you strong and happy”, explains singer Hannah.

Last year, Festival Republic together with PRS Foundation, announced the pioneering programme ReBalance which saw TheVan T’s reach the final 10 in order to be matched with a female producer mentor.

The Van T’s have also appeared at Live At LeedsTRNSMT & Communion Festival not to mention gained support slots with the likes of The Jesus and Mary ChainWolf AliceHoneyblood and Sunflower Bean.
